Navel Piercings, the Queen of Female Body Piercing

Easily one of the most popular styles of female body piercing is Navel Piercing (although occasionally men have been known to get them too!). Of course ear piercings take the crown for being the most common female body piercing, but Navel Piercing gets the silver.

Television, magazines, the media in general and even modern popular culture in general can take the majority of the credit for making Navel Piercing as popular as it is today. A lesser factor of their popularity is no doubt the fact that Navel Piercings are really easy to hide, making them very popular with teenage girls who want to hide their piercings from parents or school.

More than any other female body piercing today, Navel Pierings a largely a fashion statement due to their popularity with models and actresses and the large range of women's tops that intentionally expose the stomach area. Despite this trend, Navel Piercings are just as much of a form of self expression as any other female body piercing, and can still maintain a rebellious connotation.

To get a Navel Piercing done you will need a defined lip or fold along the rim of your navel, for most women this is at the top ridge of the navel, others prefer the bottom of the navel (a navel piercing through the bottom ridge of the navel is commonly known as an 'inverse navel'). To set yourself apart from the crowd you can also get horizontal navel piercings that travel horizontally along the rim of the navel instead of penetrating through a ridge. However horizontal navel piercings are unfortunately very prone to rejection during the healing process.

If you're after some more info on navel piercing, female genital piercing or just female body piercing in general then take a look at the Female Body Piercing blog.

Women Hairstyles: Gothic Hairstyles - Gothic Haircuts

Goth hairstyles have remained since the 1980’s when they were big, literally and figuratively speaking. It was a means of self expression which brought out a darker side of the personality and it became a more subculture with music and an overall lifestyle. In the 1980s, gothic hairstyles had more height and were known for their extra black color or use of bizarre shades of purple or red. To add an interesting effect, some Goth hairstyles were crimped or curled. In this day and age, Goth hairstyles still exist but it is no longer a ‘rule’ to have the hairstyle big or all black. Instead, Goths will still wear black but allow themselves to experiment with various hairstyles that may be more punk rock influenced.
